Gnomon

What Gnomon is, with nothing left out.

The risk first

The liquidity of every coin is held by one wallet, unlocked. When a coin is cast, both position NFTs (the billion coins, and the dawn ETH if any) are minted to the operator wallet below. Unlocked, that wallet can withdraw the liquidity at any moment, and that includes the ETH that buyers have paid into the pool. Nothing in the contracts prevents it.

The operator can lock a position in the Plinth, until a date or forever. A coin’s page reads the NFT’s holder from the chain every few seconds and only says “locked” when the Plinth holds it. If a page says “unlocked”, believe it.

The numbers

  • Supply per coin1,000,000,000, minted once, no owner
  • Opening market capUSD 5,000 at the opening tick, from a signed ETH/USD rate
  • Rate window300 seconds; one nonce per maker
  • Positionall coins from the opening price down to the minimum tick
  • Dawnoptional ETH from the maker, from the opening tick up one doubling of price
  • PoolUniswap v4, ETH/coin, LP fee 0, tick spacing 1, the coin is the hook
  • Toll75–500 bps of the ETH side of every swap, fixed at cast; the house coin pays 100
  • Toll split80% maker side (the maker picks how much of it goes to the circle), 10% commons, 10% house
  • Transfer taxnone; the toll applies only to swaps in the coin's home pool

The operator

Gnomon is run by one operator. One wallet is the lpHome (holds every position NFT), the circle, commons and house bearer, and the only address allowed to cast the house coin, $GNMN:

0x5804aEEbf18Df4db5429F39EC967051BDbe1B627

The oracle that signs ETH/USD rates is a separate key that holds no funds. It signs the median of Coinbase and Kraken and refuses when they disagree by more than 2%:

0x89D6939E168354c870b7b1dbE5d3aa669224Af8B

Because the oracle must sign every cast, the operator could stop signing and casting would stop. It cannot change a coin or its pool once cast.

The contracts

The design follows another pad on this chain closely (a coin that is its own hook, a signed USD opening, one position). Gnomon adds the Plinth, the live custody line and this page.
